Playing with the qualities of materiality, these pieces create a duality and tension between two contrasting materials (ceramic and mild steel). I am 

interested in finding a balance between opposites and assimilating them in a personal narrative. Both pieces reflect the nature of change that occurs as they 

are processed, taking on their own personality depending on their reaction to 

external sources - heat, patina and intuition.
